Working Papers

Planning to Get a Job?

Students 14–17 years of age are required by New York State law to obtain Working Papers (Employment Certificates) before beginning employment.

Required Documents

Completed Working Papers Application

Proof of Age

  • Birth Certificate
  • Passport
  • Government-Issued Identification

Current Physical Examination

  • A current physical exam completed by a healthcare provider, or
  • Medical documentation indicating you are physically fit for employment

Any additional documentation requested by the school (include icon on left)

How to Apply:

Complete the Working Papers Application.

Gather all required documentation.

Submit your completed application and supporting documents to Room 342.

4

Once your application has been reviewed and approved, your Employment Certificate will be issued.

Important Reminder Box

  • Blue Working Papers are issued to students 14-15 years old
  • Green Working Papers are issued to students 16-17 years old.
  • Students who turn 16 years old must obtain a Green Employment Certificate to replace their Blue Employment Certificate before continuing employment.
