The Academy of STEM is built on innovative, cutting-edge project-based instruction. Today, STEM includes fields such as computer science, engineering, and robotics. Computer science courses focus on problem-solving through hands-on projects. Over the past 25 years, STEM education has evolved from a simple grouping of four related disciplines into a cohesive knowledge base and skill set essential for the 21st century. It now encompasses computer science, the “designed world,” and robotics, reflecting the integration of the original four domains. The goal is to solve problems and develop innovative solutions to real-world challenges. Students also have the opportunity to earn college credit from CUNY York and SUNY Farmingdale.
