The Academy of Media, Art & Design

The Academy of Media, Art and Design offers two tracks:Visual Art and Digital Communication and MultimediaProduction. Both tracks provide opportunities for studentsto showcase their work at the Queens Museum and throughthe Arts Connection organization, enhancing their resumesand professional portfolios. Design students also have theopportunity to earn college credit from CUNY York andSUNY Farmingdale, giving them a valuable head start ontheir higher education journey.

Visual Art:

  • Focuses on high-level art skills and techniques and explores various mediums used by designers and fine artists.
  • Studio-based art classes emphasizing hands-on projects.
  • Culminates in an annual Spring Art Festival and celebrates student success in the arts.

NYC Commencement Assessment in Visual Art

Digital Communication & Multimedia Production:

  • Teaches basics of camera operation and photography Develops essential audio and video production skills, including video and audio editing techniques Emphasizes social media skills relevant to multimedia production.
  • Focuses on lighting, as well as multi-camera and single- camera production Introduces fundamentals of broadcast  journalism through news & feature story construction.
  • Advances skills through the production of segments and programs for Lions TV.

Music Production

Open to all students passionate about music orinterested in pursuing a career in the music industry –whether producing their own work or editing andcreating lyrics or beats.

Music Foundations:

  • Students learn the foundations of music production through courses in Music Production, Audio Engineering, and Sound Design.
  • They have access to professional production equipment and participate in hands-on classes that emphasize practical skills in producing, mixing, and crafting soundscapes. Students also publish their work on SoundCloud.
  • The program culminates in exciting opportunities to showcase original work at the annual Spring Arts Festival and to create custom beats for various events in the school community, celebrating student creativity and musical achievements.
