My name is Ms. Eissawi and this is currently my second year teaching ENL at Richmond Hill High School. I graduated from Queens College with a degree in Political Science and Middle Eastern Studies. I am now currently pursuing my Master's Degree in TESOL. I enjoy staying active in my free time with activities such as rock climbing and kickboxing. I also enjoy spending time with family which is a very big part of my life.
My parents were born and raised in the Middle East and immigrated to New York City where I was born and raised. As a child of immigrants, I witnessed my parents' struggles first hand. I grew accustomed to coping and adjusting to situations constantly changing around me. This taught me a lot about the value of family and its significance in my culture.
I began my love for teaching at a young age as a tutor/assistant teacher and have enjoyed the experience ever since. This pushed me to pursue a career in teaching and most specifically with English Language Learners. I speak both English and Arabic fluently and I hope that being bilingual can serve a beneficial purpose, especially in regards to the academic growth of my students.
